Inhibition of EIF4E Downregulates VEGFA and CCND1 Expression to Suppress Ovarian by Jing Wang by Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Inhibition of EIF4E Downregulates VEGFA and CCND1 Expression to Suppress Ovarian by Jing Wang by Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract This study investigates the role of EIF4E in ovarian cancer and its influence on the expression of VEGFA and CCND1. Differential expression analysis of VEGFA, CCND1, and EIF4E was conducted using SKOV3 cells in ovarian cancer patients and controls. Correlations between EIF4E and VEGFA/CCND1 were assessed, and three-dimensional cell culture experiments were performed. Comparisons of EIF4E, VEGFA, and CCND1 mRNA and protein expression between the EIF4E inhibitor 4EGI-1-treated group and controls were carried out through RT-PCR and Western blot. Our findings demonstrate elevated expression of EIF4E, VEGFA, and CCND1 in ovarian cancer patients, with positive correlations. The inhibition of EIF4E by 4EGI-1 led to decreased SKOV3 cell clustering and reduced mRNA and protein levels of VEGFA and CCND1. These results ...

Gastric Torsion following Sleeve Gastrectomy: A rare case and surgical management BY Gustavo Adolfo Frontado Boada IN Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Gastric Torsion following Sleeve Gastrectomy: A rare case and surgical management BY Gustavo Adolfo Frontado Boada IN Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract Gastric torsion is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication that can occur following sleeve gastrectomy, characterized by the rotation of the stomach along its axis. This case report presents the clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, surgical management, and postoperative outcomes of a patient who developed gastric torsion after previous sleeve gastrectomy. Early recognition and prompt surgical intervention are crucial in effectively managing this uncommon complication. Keywords:  Gastric torsion, Sleeve gastrectomy, Postoperative complication, Clinical presentation, surgical management. Introduction The increasing global prevalence of obesity has led to a higher demand for effective treatment options, with bariatric surgery emerging as a successful intervention for...

Other uncommon forms of presentation include hematuria, ureteral obstruction, hydronephrosis, and urinary tract infection. 1 Case presentation : A 47-year-old female presented with three days of constant dull right upper and lower quadran...

A case of moyamoya disease by Fei Yang Chaojie Zou in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

A case of moyamoya disease   by Fei Yang Chaojie Zou in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Introduction Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a rare cause of stroke with progressive stenosis of the end of the internal carotid artery and compensatory capillaries. The symptoms and course of moyamoya disease depend on the age of the patient at the time of symptom onset and the type of first episode (ischemic or hemorrhagic), but vary in severity from transient ischemic episodes to persistent neurological deficits  [1] . Case Clinical data The 57-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital on May 10, 2023, due to "depression, nervousness, worry and numbness of the body for more than 2 months." The patient complained of numbness and discomfort in the left index finger, middle finger and ring finger two months ago, gradually developed numbness and discomfort in the mouth, indistinctness of speech, weakness in both lower limbs and instability in w...

Myocardial ischemia due to oculocardiac reflex in patient with myocardial hypertrophy undergoing upper blepharoplasty by Andrew Albokrinov in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Myocardial ischemia due to oculocardiac reflex in patient with myocardial hypertrophy undergoing upper blepharoplasty by Andrew Albokrinov in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract Oculocardiac reflex (OCR) is caused by pressure or traction of intraorbital structures and results in bradycardia. Patients with myocardial hypertrophy can suffer myocardial ischemia due to reduced coronary vascular reserve. In this case report we describe patient who developed myocardial ischemia as a result of OCR induced by traction of intraorbital soft tissue structures during upper blepharoplasty. Keywords : Oculocardiac reflex, Myocardial ischemia, Myocardial hypertrophy Introduction The oculocardiac reflex (OCR) is a reflex afferent limb of which is trigeminal nerve and efferent limb is vagus nerve. OCR is usually caused by pressure on the oculus, traction of ocular muscles, or traction of the conjunctiva resulting in bradycardia and hemodynamic compromise in seve...

Sarcoidosis secondary to autoimmune/ inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants in a patient with HIV by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Sarcoidosis secondary to autoimmune/ inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants in a patient with HIV by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract We present the case of a 36-year-old male patient from Venezuela with a history of HIV(undetectable viral load, CD4 661) who developed skin and soft tissue infection in thegluteal region secondary to iatrogenic allogenosis. With anemia, renal failure, andhypercalcemia in whom B-cell neoplasia was ruled out, on physical examination withcervical and inguinal lymphadenopathies, in the context of immunosuppression andconstitutional syndrome. Studies requested for Mycobacterium tuberculosis andHistoplasmosis, which were negative, a biopsy of the inguinal lymph node taken with areport of non-caseating or necrotizing granulomatous disease. In addition to anencapsulated cystic lesion of the foreign body type without evidence of lymphoproliferativedisease, the ACE level as a different...

Myoclonic status secondary to cefepime toxicity by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Myoclonic status secondary to cefepime toxicity by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are defined as any harmful and unwanted effect that occurs at doses used for therapeutic or prophylactic purposes, being a frequent cause of mortality and morbidity. We present the case of a 36-year-old female patient with a history of HIV without antiretroviral therapy, in stage B2 (undetectable viral load, CD4 208) who was admitted due to emergency dialysis secondary to obstructive nephropathy due to ureterolithiasis. During hospitalization, she presented diarrheal episodes with isolation of Klebsiella pneumoniae in stool culture, which is why the treating service started therapy with cefepime not adjusted to renal function. Subsequently, she presented a sudden picture of altered state of consciousness, myoclonic and myoclonic status, for which extension studies were performed, with CT, electrolytes, gluc...
