Acute Abdomen due to Congenital Transmesenteric Internal Hernia in a 12-Year-Old Patient: Case Report San Juan De Dios General Hospital, Guatemala February 2022 by Dr. Gaby Ajcip in https://jmedcasereportsimages.org/

Acute Abdomen due to Congenital Transmesenteric Internal Hernia in a 12-Year-Old Patient: Case Report San Juan De Dios General Hospital, Guatemala February 2022 by Dr. Gaby Ajcip in  journal of clinical case reports medical  imagesand health scien Abstarct An internal hernia is a defect inside the abdominal cavity that can be found in different locations, 12% are transmesenteric, it can be of acquired origin (traumatic or previous surgeries) or congenital defect, the finding is usually incidental. Intestinal peristalsis can allow passage through this defect and in most cases it reduces spontaneously, however in some cases an adequate return is not allowed and the irrigation of the structures is compromised causing an acute abdominal clinical picture, usually the symptoms tend to be obstructive and sudden. As it is a rare entity, preoperative diagnosis is infrequent. The case of a 12-year-old male patient who consults for abdominal pain of 8 hours' duration, previously health...

Pneumorrhachis and Pneumocephalus Following Epidural Analgesia: Case Report and Systematic Review by Yi Zhang, MD in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Pneumorrhachis and Pneumocephalus Following Epidural Analgesia: Case Report and Systematic Review by Yi Zhang, MD in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  We present a case of pneumorrhachis (PR) and pneumocephalus (PC) following labor epidural analgesia and conducted a systematic review of published studies on PR or PC after epidural anesthesia. A 36-year-old female, gravida 4, para 1 (one uncomplicated term pregnancy and two abortions), received epidural anesthesia for pain control during labor at 40 weeks of gestation with an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. About 12 hours after the epidural, the patient experienced muscle and upper back pain that progressed to a positional headache. Imaging revealed an air collection within the intraspinal and intracranial space. The patient underwent a series of conservative management and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Our systematic review of 20 case reports from 1982 to 2023 included 24 patients who developed PR o...

Covid-19 associated autoimmune encephalitis in Iraq. A Case Report by Faiq B. Basa in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Covid-19 associated autoimmune encephalitis in Iraq A Case Report by Faiq B. Basa in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract Covid-19 infection frequently causes neurological symptoms. One of the mechanisms of indirect nervous system involvement is through inflammatory response and immune dysregulation. There are few recorded cases of indirect involvement of CNS by auto-antibodies. We present a case of a 6-year-old Iraqi boy with anti–N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) autoimmune encephalitis, associated with Covid-19. He presented with recent repeated attacks of refractory focal seizures preceded by behavioral changes. Serum and CSF anti-NMDAR antibodies were positive. Early recognition and treatment of autoimmune encephalitis are crucial as the prognosis is promising with early immunotherapy. Autoimmune encephalitis should be included in the main differential diagnosis whenever refractory epilepsy or new onset status epilepticus i...

Clinical Case Reports – 1970 by P. Syamasundar Rao in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Clinical Case Reports – 1970 by P. Syamasundar Rao in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract In this paper five case reports were presented and include congenital pulmonary cyst, Wilson-Mikity syndrome, diaphragmatic eventration; foreign body in the bronchus, and cor pulmonale that developed after implantation of a ventriculo-atrial shunt with a Pudenz-Heyer valve for treatment of hydrocephalus. For each case report, clinical, chest x-ray, electrocardiogram and other pertinent findings were presented. This was followed by discussion of etiology, diagnosis, and treatment options, as appropriate. Keywords: congenital pulmonary cyst; diaphragmatic eventration; Wilson-Mikity syndrome; foreign body in the bronchus; cor pulmonale Introduction During the academic clinical practice for over five decades, the author had the unique opportunity to observe and document many interesting clinical case scenarios. The purpose of this review is...

Inhibition of EIF4E Downregulates VEGFA and CCND1 Expression to Suppress Ovarian by Jing Wang by Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Inhibition of EIF4E Downregulates VEGFA and CCND1 Expression to Suppress Ovarian by Jing Wang by Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract This study investigates the role of EIF4E in ovarian cancer and its influence on the expression of VEGFA and CCND1. Differential expression analysis of VEGFA, CCND1, and EIF4E was conducted using SKOV3 cells in ovarian cancer patients and controls. Correlations between EIF4E and VEGFA/CCND1 were assessed, and three-dimensional cell culture experiments were performed. Comparisons of EIF4E, VEGFA, and CCND1 mRNA and protein expression between the EIF4E inhibitor 4EGI-1-treated group and controls were carried out through RT-PCR and Western blot. Our findings demonstrate elevated expression of EIF4E, VEGFA, and CCND1 in ovarian cancer patients, with positive correlations. The inhibition of EIF4E by 4EGI-1 led to decreased SKOV3 cell clustering and reduced mRNA and protein levels of VEGFA and CCND1. These results ...

Gastric Torsion following Sleeve Gastrectomy: A rare case and surgical management BY Gustavo Adolfo Frontado Boada IN Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Gastric Torsion following Sleeve Gastrectomy: A rare case and surgical management BY Gustavo Adolfo Frontado Boada IN Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract Gastric torsion is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication that can occur following sleeve gastrectomy, characterized by the rotation of the stomach along its axis. This case report presents the clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, surgical management, and postoperative outcomes of a patient who developed gastric torsion after previous sleeve gastrectomy. Early recognition and prompt surgical intervention are crucial in effectively managing this uncommon complication. Keywords:  Gastric torsion, Sleeve gastrectomy, Postoperative complication, Clinical presentation, surgical management. Introduction The increasing global prevalence of obesity has led to a higher demand for effective treatment options, with bariatric surgery emerging as a successful intervention for...
