A Rare Case of Supraclavıcular Regıon: Branchıoma (Ectopıc Cervıcal Thymoma) BY Nihal Seden Boyoğlu IN Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

A Rare Case of Supraclavıcular Regıon: Branchıoma (Ectopıc Cervıcal Thymoma) BY Nihal Seden Boyoğlu IN Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract Background: In the past, it was believed that ectopic thymoma was a rare hamartomatous tumor found in the cervical region, caused by the presenceof ectopic thymic tissue due to disrupted thymus migration during fetaldevelopment. However, recent literature indicates that these lesions do notoriginate from the thymus and should be referred to as branchiomas. Despitebeing uncommon, it is crucial to consider these lesions in the differentialdiagnosis of cervical masses.Case presentation: A 53-year-old male patient presented to our clinic with aone-year history of swelling on the left side of the neck. Upon examination,a 6 cm mass was found in the left supraclavicular region. An MRI of the neckrevealed an oval mass with mixed components of soft tissue and fat density. Afine needle aspiration confirmed the diagnos...

choroidal vascular drop out in a case of severe phenotype of Flammer Syndrome. Rescue of the ischemic-preconditioning mimicking action of endogenous Erythropoietin (EPO) by off-label i ntra vitreal injection of recombinant Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciencesby Claude Boscher in by human EPO (rhEPO)   Abstract Background:  Erythropoietin (EPO) is a pleiotropic anti-apoptotic, neurotrophic, anti-inflammatory, and pro-angiogenic endogenous agent, in addition to its effect on erythropoiesis. Exogenous EPO is currently used notably in human spinal cord trauma, and pilot studies in ocular diseases have been reported. Its action has been shown in all (neurons, glia, retinal pigment epithelium, and endothelial) retinal cells. Patients affected by the Flammer Syndrome (FS) (secondary to Endothelin (ET)-related endothelial dysfunction) are exposed to ischemic accidents in the microcirculation, notably the retina and optic nerve. Case Presenta...

A case of moyamoya disease by Fei Yang Chaojie Zou in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

A case of moyamoya disease   by Fei Yang Chaojie Zou in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Introduction Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a rare cause of stroke with progressive stenosis of the end of the internal carotid artery and compensatory capillaries. The symptoms and course of moyamoya disease depend on the age of the patient at the time of symptom onset and the type of first episode (ischemic or hemorrhagic), but vary in severity from transient ischemic episodes to persistent neurological deficits  [1] . Case Clinical data The 57-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital on May 10, 2023, due to "depression, nervousness, worry and numbness of the body for more than 2 months." The patient complained of numbness and discomfort in the left index finger, middle finger and ring finger two months ago, gradually developed numbness and discomfort in the mouth, indistinctness of speech, weakness in both lower limbs and instability in w...

Myoclonic status secondary to cefepime toxicity by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Myoclonic status secondary to cefepime toxicity by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are defined as any harmful and unwanted effect that occurs at doses used for therapeutic or prophylactic purposes, being a frequent cause of mortality and morbidity. We present the case of a 36-year-old female patient with a history of HIV without antiretroviral therapy, in stage B2 (undetectable viral load, CD4 208) who was admitted due to emergency dialysis secondary to obstructive nephropathy due to ureterolithiasis. During hospitalization, she presented diarrheal episodes with isolation of Klebsiella pneumoniae in stool culture, which is why the treating service started therapy with cefepime not adjusted to renal function. Subsequently, she presented a sudden picture of altered state of consciousness, myoclonic and myoclonic status, for which extension studies were performed, with CT, electrolytes, gluc...

Ulcerative syphilis (malignant syphilis) in a patient with human immunodeficiency virus infection. About a case by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Ulcerative syphilis (malignant syphilis) in a patient with human immunodeficiency virus infection. About a case by Camila Ramírez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract We present the case of a 59-year-old male patient diagnosed with HIV infection since 2008 on intermittent antiretroviral therapy with dolutegravir+lamivudine/abacavir, stage C3 (viral load 29,855 and CD4 count 40) who was admitted for clinical picture of two months of evolution consisting of the appearance of non-pruritic nodular ulcerated cutaneous lesions on the face and lower limbs associated with loss of visual acuity in the left eye, on physical examination with ulcerated lesions with necrotic and hyperkeratotic edges, for which reason they were requested extension studies within which he presented reactive VDRL, which is why a skin biopsy was requested due to the suspicion of malignant syphilis, as well as lumbar puncture and ophthalmological assessment confirming Neu...

CATCH THEM YOUNG – WATCH THEM GROW” Management of developing malocclusion in early and late mixed dentition period using versatile 2x4 appliance by K.Sudheer kumar in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

CATCH THEM YOUNG – WATCH THEM GROW” Management of developing malocclusion in early and late mixed dentition period using versatile 2x4 appliance by K.Sudheer kumar in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract The mixed dentition period is considered one of the most ideal ages for undergoing interceptive orthodontic treatment. Children possess a higher perception of dental esthetics. Dental malocclusions were found to affect the self-esteem of the children during this period. American Association of Orthodontics recommends that a child can undergo orthodontic treatment at the early age of 7 years. Certain malocclusions can be corrected during the mixed dentition period which aids in the normal growth of jaws and surrounding structures. This article describes successful management of two cases with angles class 2 division 2 malocclusion treated using 2 x 4 appliance. The 2 x 4 appliance is a partially fixed orthodontic appliance that is used in ch...

Seeking the culprit in a patient presented with lateral ST elevation myocardial infarction by Vittorakis Eftychios in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences

Seeking the culprit in a patient presented with lateral ST elevation myocardial infarction by Vittorakis Eftychios in Journal of Clinical Case Reports Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract ST Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) is a frequent manifestation of coronary heart disease (CAD). The standard medical practice in centers equipped with a heart catheterization laboratory involves performing an immediate coronary angiogram with angioplasty of the responsible lesion. This case report describes a patient with lateral STEMI where identification of the culprit lesion causing the myocardial infarction was challenging. However, after meticulous examination of the coronary angiography, the lesion was detected, and the patient was treated with stent implantation, resulting in an uneventful recovery. Therefore, in cases of STEMI with an indistinct culprit lesion, careful investigation of the coronary angiography may offer a solution to the problem. Back...
